Scholarships Awarded to Area Students
Last year's recipients were Robert Jones, Jr. from Sheffield, Kevin Guiterrez from Muscle Shoals, Christopher Graham from Rogersville and Lachlan Stover from Killen.
The Shoals Mustangs Club will be hosting the 2018 Tool Scholarship Dinner, May 10th, 6:00 pm at Ralph Stumpe's Coral, 201 County Road 643, Florence. Barbeque will be furnished and club members are asked to bring fixings, deserts, and drinks.
Five students have been selected to be receive scholarships for 2018. They include: Patrick Saint of Sheffield, Devon Alan Looney of Tuscumbia, Pierre Gonzalez of Town Creek, James Hood of Anderson, and Jason Staggs of Waynesboro.
Since 2011 Shoals Mustangs has awarded scholarships to support graduating high school students in the shoals area that have shown outstanding performance during their vocational training and are interested in pursuing careers in the automotive and/or mechanical fields.
The club works with the automotive technology section of three area schools - Muscle Shoals Career Academy, Allen Thornton Career Technical Center and Wayne County Technology Center - in the selection process.
In addition, students are given tool kits to help get them on their way. Presentation of these scholarships takes place at our monthly meeting in May. Extreme Auto Design in Muscle Shoals helps sponsor this project.
